Zazu Africa Limited (“we”, “our”, “us”), operates under the name ‘Zazu’. We are a registered Payments System Business by the Bank of Zambia and are registered under PACRA (Company number - 120170000396) as a digital and financial services company in the Republic of Zambia.

There is nothing more important to us than providing you with services that will delight you. Part of that process includes ensuring that your privacy is protected and you continue to trust us to provide you with our services.

Your information

In order to comply with local and international laws, we hold information about you. We obtain this information from you when you sign up to our services, either via our website or via the Zazu app.

This information might include, but it is not limited to:

  • Your username, full name & address
  • The transactions you make on our platform
  • Your device information

Why we collect this information

This information is collected so that we may present you with an experience that pleases you and arranges information in the most helpful way for you. By collecting this information, we can:

  • Give you enhanced control of the app
  • Comply with national and international laws on knowing your customer (KYC), combating fraud, money laundering or other illegal activities such as financing terrorist activities.
  • Understand if our services are helping or harming you. We can use this data to make recommendations against or for lending you money.

Who sees your data

We will use the data you provide us, to provide you with the services we offer. Naturally, this means that the data is available to our employees and people/companies we partner with. Anyone who might access your data is bound by strict confidentiality agreements between Zazu and them.

  • Our employees
  • Our partners & third party service providers
  • Authorities in and outside of Zambia, if they specifically ask us
  • Anyone you consent to share data with

Your rights

You have a right to access the personal data we hold about you, obtain a copy of it or ask us to modify part of it, transfer your data to a 3rd party or object to us processing your data. To do so please inform us by emailing hello@zazuafrica.com

Cookies

Cookies are small files assigned to your computer or device by a website or mobile application. The cookie does not contain any personal information about you, such as your name or email address, but it does contain a unique ID assigned to your device.

What we use cookies for

Cookies, pixels, and other technologies (collectively referred to hereafter as “cookies”) are used to recognize your browser or device, see what pages your browse and improve your browsing experience next time you visit the same website. These cookies can also be used by third-party services and companies like ours to display relevant ads to our users.

General Principles

  • In order to help us protect your personal information, it is important that you always keep your account information safe. Never share your user name, password, or other credentials with any person or third party. By providing your user name, password or other credentials to any person or third party (including an aggregation service) you authorise that person or third party to access your account.
  • Zazu may interact with registered users of various social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. Please note that any content you post to such social media platforms (e.g., pictures, information or opinions), as well as any personal information that you otherwise make available to users (e.g., your profile), is subject to the applicable social media platform’s terms of use and privacy policy. We recommend that you review this information carefully in order to better understand your rights and obligations with regard to such content.
  • We will not ask for more personal data than we need for the purposes for which we are collecting it.
  • We will update our records when you inform us that your details have changed. You are therefore required to inform us of any changes to your personal information immediately they occur by emailing soft copies of your documents to hello@zazuafrica.com.
  • We will continue to review and assess the quality of the personal data that we hold.
  • We will ensure we have appropriate physical and technological security measures to protect your personal data regardless of where it is held.
  • We will ensure that suitable safeguards are in place before personal data is transferred to our partners.
  • Zazu will never initiate (unless otherwise stated for a specific product or service application), a request via email for your sensitive information (e.g., personal ID, password, user name or account number). In the event you receive an email asking for your sensitive information, you should be suspicious of such a request and promptly contact us to report the suspicious activity.

Our promise to you

  1. We are required by law1, to keep information about the transactions you make and your personal information. Where this is the case, we will only keep this information for as long as we need to. We will then delete it securely and safely
  2. We will not share identifiable personal data with third parties for their direct marketing, unless you give us permission

Changes to this policy

Any changes we may make to our Privacy Policy in the future will be posted on the website and, where appropriate, notified to you by SMS, by email and/or when you next access the App. The new terms may be displayed on-screen in the App and you may be required to read and accept them to continue your use of the App or the Services.
